Job Description
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will not only be working with the Wellness team, the CNA will be working directly with our customers. The CNA shall:
- Promote the mission, image and values of Greenview Place by exhibiting professional and ethical work practices;
- Take ownership of the customer experience by acknowledging and completing each customer interaction 100% of the time; address any issue within 24 hours
- Determine customer needs and make the resident experience exceptional
- Provide to residents/customers assistance with ADLs, as needed and in accordance with individual Resident Service Plans.
- Promote a positive customer experience by maintaining a clean work environment, wearing proper uniform or attire and required ID badge and maintaining appropriate grooming
- Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities through attendance and participation in scheduled training classes, in-service, educational seminars and other learning experiences
Responsibilities
- Greet everyone with a smile; ask questions to accurately identify customer needs; follow through on requests; ensure customers are satisfied with results. Provide services by being on the job everyday when scheduled, on time.
- Promote independence of residents by assisting with personal care services: bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, oral care and other ADLs in accordance with Resident Service Plan. Use proper techniques for resident escort and transfer.
- Provide medication reminders and document according to the CNA assignment schedules. Develop a positive relationship with each resident; respect resident rights, tolerate differences and provide consistent and equitable treatment.
- Assist in serving meals, including clean-up when required. Prepare food with residents as part of life enrichment activities. Practice safe food handling as trained. Offer snacks and encourage adequate nutrition and hydration for residents.
- Provide coverage at the Reception Desk as directed.
- Conduct Daily Resident Checks at resident meals and provide oversight and assistance to the Dining Services Program.
RESIDENT RECORDS MAINTENANCE
- Accurately document resident care information, incidents and other important resident information. Documentation must be timely, correct, legible and according to assignment.
- Provide/complete accurate data collection of resident vital statistics, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature.
- Keep other team members informed.
- Demonstrate accurate use and implement simple pain scale with residents; record data. II. ILLNESS IDENTIFICATION
- Within appropriate timeframe, report to Director of Wellness any changes in resident condition: skin, nutrition status, mobility, mental and/or physical function.
- Identify signs and symptoms of illness. Report information in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
ACTIVITIES PARTICIPATION
- Coordinate and implement appropriate daily life enrichment activities according to resident needs.
- Participate in resident enrichment and/or group activities in conjunction with Life Enrichment Director and/or Director of Wellness.
SAFETY & INFECTION CONROL
- Follow proper infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Qualities Required
- Successful completion of Illinois Certified Nursing Assistant course and inclusion on the IL CNA Registry.
- Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written direction in the English language at a level adequate to perform the job duties.
- Must be able to verbally communicate information to customers and other employees.
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills with residents, families, staff and other service providers.
- Must be able to consistently document resident care.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of personal assistance devices and their applications.
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge of medications and effects.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of safety practices, procedures and maintenance.

- Must be capable of performing the essential job responsibilities of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience working with the elderly population is preferred.
Physical Requirements Of Job
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to walking and standing for extensive periods of time; and frequently stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls, pushes, pulls, grasps and feels.
- The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when handling cooking and cleaning equipment. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Work schedule may include morning, evening weekend and holiday shifts.
- Employee must be able to walk or stand continuously, lift or carry weight up to 40 lbs., occasionally lift or carry weight over 50 lbs., transport residents using wheelchair or wheeled cart, assist residents to walk, help residents to bathe, lift and/or move equipment or furniture to assist in resident comfort, deal with residents in emergency situations, including lifting, moving or restraining them, perform CPR, and otherwise provide “hands on” resident care, and be able to engage in frequent bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling.
- Employee is subject to assisting and working with residents and handling medical/office equipment.
- Employee must have corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious substances, including communicable diseases when performing resident care and services.
- Occupational exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
- Healthcare and residential environment.
- Employee must also be able to perform basic office functions, including using a computer keyboard or touchpad and telephone.
