Purpose of the Role:
Under the general direction of the Director of Criminal Justice Program, the Job Developer is responsible for conducting assessments of clients’ employability to determine suitability for services and then make appropriate referrals both internally and externally to support a successful service plan completion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interviews clients to obtain employment history, educational background, career goals, etc. to assess their employment related capability and needs.
Identifies barriers to employment and assists clients in developing job readiness skills and search strategies.
Provides one on one counseling to clients.
Assists clients with resumes and cover letter writing, interview preparation, etc.
Administers standardized assessments to determine client interests, aptitudes and abilities.
Supports and monitors clients as they progress through their Employment Service Plans.
Collects client evaluations of their program experience.
Follows-up with clients at appropriate intervals to assess progress and record outcomes.
Conducts outreach to clients, employers and community to promote program services.
Makes cold calls to potential employers explaining benefits and employment support services that is provided to employers.
Liaises with job development services, government departments and other social, employment and community agencies as needed to facilitate clients’ progress.
Supports facilitation through delivery of seminars and workshops.
Attends networking events as needed.
Maintains case notes file and appropriate documentation about clients’ progress.
Keeps abreast of changes in field.- Performs other duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent, associate's degree in human services/Mental Health Discipline preferred.
At least two years of prior experience as a Job Developer or a Supported Employment Specialist
Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills required, as this position will interface on a regular basis with a variety of employers and community contacts.
Ability to work independently and under stress, meet deadlines and multi-task.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
