From teaching someone to walk again to relieving the pain of severe arthritis, a day in the life of a Physical Therapist is both challenging and rewarding.
A PT will diagnose those with limited ability to perform everyday activities and help restore their physical function and mobility.
You will also help patients to avoid surgery and reduce their need for prescription drugs, while at the same time forming long-term relationships with patients and watching their hard work pay off.
At certain times, not only with you be a clinical expert, but a cheerleader as well, encouraging people and motivating them to overcome their struggle with pain and physical dysfunction.
PHYSICAL THERAPIST DAILY TASKS:
1. Consult with patients to learn about their condition and symptoms
2. Diagnose movement dysfunction and develop a treatment plan
3. Teach patients how to use therapeutic exercise techniques
4. Provide stimulation or massage to promote healing
5. Assist patients with the use of equipment such as wheelchairs or walkers
6. Maintain patient records and keep track of goals and progress
7. Advise the patient and family about in-home treatment options and exercises
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.47 - $53.63 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
