Job Description:
Beverly Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center, Stroke Service Hospital and Emergent Percutaneous Cardiac Intervention Center. We serve as the primary point of entry for patients accessing these services. The department is staffed with at least one Emergency Medicine Board Certified Physician and Mid-Level Clinician at all times.
Beverly & Addison Gilbert Hospital has opportunities available for experienced inpatient Nurses to care for patients who are boarding in the Emergency Department (ED) while they await an inpatient bed. The ideal candidate will be patient and family focused, have strong clinical knowledge, enjoy collaboration and be comfortable in the dynamic environment of an ED. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the processes of an ED and to develop a broad range of clinical expertise in a variety of adult inpatient specialties including Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, etc.
- The Emergency Department offers 40 treatment rooms, including two rooms designated for the care of trauma patients and ten rooms for patients with behavioral health needs.

- Multimodal orientation program utilizing latest evidence-based online education programs, interactive lectures, and simulation. We have several orientation programs available to meet the individual needs of every nurse that comes through our doors.
SCHEDULE:
- 32 hours a week and every other weekend and rotating holidays. Some schedule accommodations can be made, just ask your recruiter!
Responsibilities:
- Reviews the admission orders, care plans and nursing protocols for admitted patients that are boarding in the ED. Complete admission assessments and medication reconciliations as able.
- Performs comprehensive assessments and rounds on patient’s focusing on clinical and psychosocial needs, focuses on prevention on hospital acquired injury.
- Ensures appropriate precautions are initiated, maintained and discontinued appropriately.
- Facilitates communication between the physician, interdisciplinary team, patient and family.
- Gathers sufficient information from all relevant sources to determine the effectiveness of the plan of care to assure it is done in an accurate, safe, and timely manner.
- Rounds regularly with care team to ensure that care is proceeding in an efficient and effective manner. Follow up to ensure that tests and treatments are proceeding efficiently, and that results are available on a timely basis.
- Ensures that the care plan is updated as appropriate, through clinical progression of the patient toward clinical milestones updating the team and patient and family accordingly.
- Documents all assessments and interventions.
- Coordinates patient transfer to the appropriate level of care, including Hospital at Home or other alternative care settings. Identifies and facilitates resolution of clinical and operational roadblocks to achieve optimal outcomes by identifying alternatives as needed.
- Participates in discharge planning with care team, to include identifying potential barriers to disposition plan.
- Refers to Social Worker or Discharge Planner for complex psychosocial and discharge planning issues and ensures appropriate follow-up. Consults with other members of the interdisciplinary team (physical therapy, pharmacy, etc.) to provide safe discharge as appropriate.
- Closely monitors the progression of care for the observation patient, and ensures appropriate utilization of resources and efficient throughput for this patient population.
Requirement:
MA RN
BLS required
2 or more years of RN Med/Surg acute care experience
BSN preferred
