Primary Responsibility:
LaMotte is searching for a Product Manager who is hands-on and possesses the discipline to work towards a vision as well as being an excellent team player with a positive attitude. The Product Manager will be responsible for creating, developing, and running the product and market strategies to drive profitable revenue growth.Develop product roadmaps and execute critical project schedules to enable on time delivery of new products. Manage the basic marketing mix (product, price, promotion, and distribution). Augment LaMotte’s organic growth through new market development and products.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Product Management
Set overall product strategy and vision for both hardware and software assigned products.
Direct all product management activities required to support the business:
- Translate customer's needs into specifications for LaMotte’s products and services that will be globally applicable.
- Identify and understand emerging applications and technologies that create opportunities or threats for LaMotte.
- Implement global and local pricing strategies to maximize LaMotte’s opportunities for penetration and profitability.
- Manage product cost position by product feature assessment and segmentation, portfolio rationalization, and basic product design/process cost reduction.
- Monitor and assess customer's expectations for products and services across all industries and geographical markets.
- Prepare market analyses to identify strategic areas of focus. Conduct market surveys and develop initiatives in support of the overall LaMotte strategic plan.
- Develop and execute strategies to penetrate emerging applications with existing products.
- Develop strategies to organically grow LaMotte’s business through targeted selling, market expansion, and new product innovation.
- Manage stage gate process for LaMotte’s new product development projects. Bring to market products and services to meet customers’ requirements.
- Foster and maintain relationships with key universities and research laboratories to learn of and evaluate developing technologies.
- Work with the Creative team to manage the LaMotte brand, implement promotions in support of all product and industry strategies, and develop content to communicate LaMotte’s value proposition to customers.
- Develop sales support and training materials to enhance the effectiveness of all selling activities.
- Travel domestically and internationally to understand customers’ needs, support major account activity, maintain product awareness, provide training, and support trade shows.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:
Requires a B.S./B.A. degree in Engineering or Business; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of product management experience, knowledge and understanding of industrial systems and processes, ability to understand and communicate technical information and an understanding of marketing responsibilities including product portfolio, price, promotion, and distribution required. Strong leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, and outstanding project and program management skills. Must be ethical, professional, and confidential.
A successful candidate will be able to balance immediate needs of the business with longer term strategic initiatives. Candidate needs to be comfortable in a high growth, dynamic environment with willingness and ability to grow with the company. Highly accomplished agent of change with the ability to develop, deploy and lead change management and communications efforts that align the organization around challenging transformational efforts. Experience working in small independent organizations and blue-chip process-oriented enterprises is a plus.
Managing/Supervising
- Field any product management related questions/problems and assists employees in solving problems and setting priorities as needed.
- Encourage staff and employees to participate in lean activities, including but not limited to:
- Lean training and lean events such as a kaizen.
- 5-S programs in each department or work areas.
- DMAICs process, continuously look for ways to improve the respective department.
Miscellaneous
- Assists wherever needed to enable the Company to comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Conducts oneself professionally and leads by example (follows SOPs, observes company policies, handles employee issues properly, treats everyone equally and with respect, etc.) Maintains confidentiality of Company information and personnel information.
- Stays current regarding information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
- Attends educational programs, seminars, and workshops to keep abreast of industry developments and product technology.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Environmental Factors and Physical Capabilities:
Primarily works indoors in temperature-controlled environment. Requires sitting, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, driving a vehicle, and using a computer. Must be able to travel to distributor, suppliers, potential business partners, and customer sites as needed via day trips or overnight trips traveling by car, shuttle, train, plane, etc.
