Acts as a representative of the Director of Nursing and Administration. Collaborates with Director of Nursing and Nursing Unit Supervisor in ensuring competent, cost effective patient care. You will manage unit/unit operations. You will manage unit/units personnel activities. You will assure the acquisition and retention of qualified personnel. You will develop a professional climate within the nursing units. You will develop departmental goals consistent with hospital/system strategic plans and operations. You will maintain current professional growth through independent study, and attending in-service programs and workshops. Qualifications 3+ years as Charge Nurse, Care Coordinator or SupervisorDocumented experience demonstrating leadership, management, communication & interpersonal skills Bachelor s Degree- Nursing Registered Nurse license in Texas. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire BLS ACLS NIHSS certification required within 90 days Specialty certification required within 6 months of hire Current Manager is retiring, been there 30 yrsBSN requiredPostpartum & newborn separated out for this roleSome cross training to both sidesAll RN dept w/o patient care PCTs, but have unit clerksLevel 4 maternal designation50% population is Spanish speaking bilingual helpfulLevel IV nicu3 OR & recovery on the women s floor # beds: 35, construction- may be up to 45ishFTE (total in unit/ direct): 45 w/5 CNCSTypes of patients- postpartum, GYN surgery, stable antepartum (joint care antepartum doing fetal monitor & postpartum after).Current Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6 without PCT, Ann working on getting to 1:5Women s- Current births per month (average): 3600/yearDaily census/ procedures per month: census low right now18-.4 but peak months 32-38Shift- specify your expectations on hours: this is days. 8-9 RNs per shift & a PCT. Nights 5-7 RNs. Weekends 6-7 day/nightHours: some managers early in & 3:00 out, most are later morning to early eve- just meet team needs.
