Close Jensen & Miller, P.C. (CJM) has openings for multifaceted senior civil engineers to join our talented team in our Wethersfield, CT office. The position requires a combination of strong technical, communications and organizational skills. This solution-oriented role is focused on delivering project results to customers including federal, state and local departments of transportation. The candidate must be highly self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as a team leader and a team member.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design oversight/project administrative work
Administrative, and/or technical specialist advisory work - helping oversee the planning, analysis, and design of various bridge projects.
Development & oversight of plans, specifications, and technical reports to ensure complete, accurate work in accordance with ConnDOT standards.
Technical resolution of design issues, which may include performing field investigation.
Working closely/ constant communication with other disciplinary engineering/ planning units.
Presentation of study reports and other technical analyses.
Review of consultant milestone PS&E submissions.
Development of various contract documents.
Oversight and/or guiding and mentoring junior engineers in performing engineering tasks.
Attendance at Public Information Meetings as needed.
Occasional travel within Connecticut
Qualifications Include:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent - M.S. is a plus
Professional Engineer License (P.E.) or ability to obtain
Experience working with State Department of Transportation and Local town administrations. ConnDOT State & Federal Local Bridge Program experience desirable.
Working knowledge of ConnDOT Design Manual standards, specifications, procedures, and State statutes.
Ability to work with various teams - both internal & external.
Very strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences.
Highly Organized. Ability to effectively share information verbally & electronically.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Bluebeam.
Familiarity with ConnDOT software including DDE, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, Open Bridge Modeler, InfoTech Estimator, Compass Submittal & Tracking.
Experience desirable in the any/all of following areas: Bridge/ Structures, Highway Design, Water Resources, Environmental Permitting, Load Rating, Cost Estimating, Construction Staging/ Sequencing, Accelerated Bridge Construction Techniques.
