SUMMARY
The Category Advisor (Target) delivers objective and strategic thought leadership to provide solutions that will accelerate growth for Target’s Baby Toy Category. This role will partner with the buying team to deliver category objectives through use of consumer & shopper insights, data analysis, modular development, assortment planning and monitoring progress against business plans.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Drive best in class category management fundamentals as well as elevating Consumer & Shopper Insights to build additional business and retain current customer base. Provide analysis of competition product assortment, price and merchandising strategy with recommended updates to the existing Target program.
- Prepare account specific category plans providing unbiased analysis, interpretation and recommendations improving total category performance.
- Own modular review analysis, updates, drawing and execution process.
- Co-own assortment and lead planogramming activities.
- Conduct promotional analysis to deliver recommendations to optimize.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating layout center modular set.
- Provide ad hoc analysis, reporting, store resets and meeting assistance as requested by the Target team.
- Strong understanding of marketing, sales, shopper insights, corporate strategy, and retailer strategy, operations, and planning.
- Participate in store resets to improve modular update process.
- Lead category expertise driving innovation and performance.
- Provide regular updates regarding shopper insights and potential opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years in a Business/Category management role
- Experience as a Target Category Advisor or a mixture of category/product management, sales, and/or consumer insights.
- Experience with JDA Space Planning (Blue Yonder).
- Knowledge of Target modular planning process
- Analytics and data storytelling experience
- Consumer Product Goods (CPG) experience and/or experience in the baby/toddler industry are preferred.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
- A Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business administration, analytics or a related field.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
