INVO has a great part time opportunity for a School Certified Nurse in Norwood NJ. The nurse will work closely with school staff, parents, and community health resources to support student health and wellness, ensuring that students are healthy, safe, and able to achieve academic success.
Key Responsibilities: - Health Assessments: Conduct health screenings and assessments for students, including vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings.
- Medical Care: Provide first aid, emergency care, and manage chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) for students as needed.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate records of medication administration according to district policies.
- Health Plans: Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with specific medical needs.
- Health Education: Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Immunization Records: Maintain and update student immunization records in compliance with state regulations.
- Crisis Management: Participate in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other staff to create a healthy school environment.
- Parent Communication: Communicate with parents and guardians regarding their child's health issues and medical needs.
- Health Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, documenting all health-related interactions.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health regulations, including those related to COVID-19.
- Professional Development: Stay current with nursing practices and school health regulations by participating in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications: - Certification: Current New Jersey State Certification as a School Nurse (CSN).
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey.
- Experience: Prior experience as a school nurse or in pediatric nursing is preferred.
- Skills: Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPR/AED Certification: Current certification in CPR and AED.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with child growth and development, public health principles, and relevant laws and regulations.
