Position Summary:
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Performs patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in other nursing units as necessary.
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in nursing for Pulmonary and Medical/Surgical care
Reports to: Director - GI/GU and Pulmonary Care Units

Minimum Education
Associate's degree in Nursing or RN Diploma - Required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing - Preferred
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required.
Certifications:
From American Heart Association or American Red CrossBasic Life Support (BLS) - Required to be current upon hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required within 6 months of hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Preferred
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) - Preferred
Trauma Nurse Core Certification - Preferred, if floating to ED
Licenses: State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure - Required
Minimum Work Experience
Must have a minimum of 2 years hospital nursing experience. Must be high functioning Med/Surg nurse. CCU and ED experience preferred.
