Description Summary: Provides clinical leadership and expertise in area of specialty. The job exists to meet the physical, psychological, social and educational needs of patients and their families, as well as to provide consultation to other health care providers regarding needs and nursing care of patients .
Responsibilities
- Works primarily day shift hours as needed by department. On-call shifts are required.
- Assists Interventional Radiologist(s) with daily procedures and implements physician orders.
- Performs nursing assessment at time of procedures or within one week of start of the procedure including medication reconciliation.
- Obtains medical history, assesses patients for special needs (skin reaction, contrast reactions, vital signs, dietary needs, other needs) and plans appropriate care and recovery. Pass clinical judgment to take emergency interventions and initiate action to preserve patient safety and good clinical outcomes.
- Educates patients, their families, and health care providers on procedures, treatments, side effects & symptom management.
- Performs direct patient care as needed: adjusts and activates equipment and connects patients to monitoring devices, if necessary. Monitors IV's and other equipment for outpatients and inpatients, safety assessment and monitoring, administration of medication as ordered by MD, assists with all other aspects of nursing care.
- Documents all assessments & clinical care provided, referral for services, communication with other depts. or physician offices, and administration of medications in the medical record. Assists with patient needs for medical leave and other such documents.
- Maintains liaison with other disciplines, such as nutritional support, speech therapy, social work, navigators, social services, inpatient staff and office staff.
- Presents a positive professional image by exhibiting good patient experience skills, positive communication skills, professional behavior and appearance.
- Assists the Radiologists, Front Desk Staff and Radiologic Technologists with scheduling and workflow management to ensure patient safety and efficient workflows. Provides nursing assistance to all areas of the Imaging Department if needed.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position including management of supplies in exam rooms & equipment.

Other Information Education Skills Experience
Required Associate Degree or higher. Minimum Experience: three years Current Registered Nurse License CPR certified
Desired: Experience in an IR or Cath Lab environment.
