About the Role & Team
The Show Controls Software Developer Senior will collaborate with project teams to define the software technical requirements vital to achieve project goals. This role will develop and maintain whole feature sets or entire pieces of software both guest facing and internal cast member facing. This includes both architecture, design, and implementation.
What You Will Do
- Lead software estimation, scheduling, planning, design, implementation, and closeout activities for assigned project scope. Must work closely with other technical divisions of work to ensure constructed systems (inclusive of both hardware and software) operate cooperatively and effectively over the usable life of the project.
- Balance evolving technical requirements with fixed budgets and schedules and communicate risks and options to studio and project leadership in a timely fashion.
- Partner with leadership at all levels to implement project goals while employing the best software development practices and adhering to relevant company and industry standards.
- Work with other software developers and software project leads to provide incremental and overall updates to status and condition of software product progress.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Five (5) years of industrial automation and/or process control experience, focused on software development within the same domain.
- PLC programming experience of Beckhoff, Siemens, Rockwell or other mainstream PLCs.
- Experience with IEC61131-3 programming languages.
- Experience with process control/controls engineering industry standards and development process.
- Intermediate understanding of control hardware, ability to understand electrical schematics.
- Technical writing and documentation experience with the ability to use your engineering skills to translate creative ideas into real-life software solutions.
- Knowledge of platforms / languages / technologies in addition to PLCs such as FPGAs, embedded controllers/microcontrollers, and RTOS programming environments.
- Knowledge and experience with version control and workflow management tools including JIRA, GitLab or similar tools.
- Willing to travel on behalf of company to project destinations for the purposes of business trips (between overnight and 6 months stay), and relocation (between 6 month and two-year stay).
Preferred Qualifications
- Scientific or real-time programming skills (C/C++/Visual C).
- Experience with mechanical/mechatronic/robotics systems and software toolsets or platforms used to influence or govern the motion of real world devices.
- Experience with EtherCAT, ADS, DS-402, Profibus, DMX/sACN, Python, Java.
- Familiarity with typical industry tools e.g. MS Visual Studio, RSLogix, Matlab, Robot OS (ROS), AutoDesk Maya, Motion Builder, AutoCAD
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 61511, ISO 13855, IEC 62061
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees preferred.
