VCI has a great opportunity for an experienced full time onsite Construction Manager - Electrical Engineer to serve as our owner representative at the Ionnis A Lougaris VA Medical Center located in Reno, Nevada. This project is for the replacement of the Seismically Deficient Boiler Plant, Building 8. This individual will assist is in the design-build project, which is associated work activities consisting of, but not limited to, improvements at an existing gravel park lot, demolition of the facility's current utility building, the Boiler Plant, Building 8, conversion of the Boiler Plant location into a parking lot, and installation of a bulk oxygen storage room with associated tanks and equipment.
Responsibilities:
The Construction Manager-Electrical Engineer will:
Quickly understand and master local, state, and federal jurisdiction requirements, considering project-specific needs.
Review design and construction plans against existing site conditions.
Resolve unforeseen site and design conditions/problems, proposing cost-effective technical solutions.
Conduct inspections and inventories of medical and administrative services structures to identify deficiencies and assess physical condition.
Qualifications:
The Construction Manager-Electrical Engineer must have the following qualifications:
Minimum 6 years of experience practicing electrical engineering.
Minimum 6 years of experience inspecting electrical construction.
Strong communication, language, and software skills, with proficiency in various software programs.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
The Construction Manager-Electrical Engineer must have the following:
Knowledge of commercial hospital electrical construction, including underground installation, high and low voltage power distribution, emergency generators, grounding, and lightning protection.
Familiarity with electrical systems in central utility plants and energy facilities.
Understanding of low voltage systems (fire alarm, telecommunication, data distribution, nurse call, etc.).
Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for contract modifications.
Proficiency in reading schedules, budgets, and assisting with document control.
Ensure compliance with testing and safety standards.
Evaluate workmanship, materials, and equipment against contract requirements and industry standards.
Working knowledge of building, safety, and environmental codes.
Familiarity with environmental, civil, safety, architectural, and structural fields.
Understanding of governmental contracting procedures, principles, guidelines, and public law.
Communication, Language, and Software Skills:
Proficient in using various software programs for monitoring, updating, and producing work products.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Education:
The Construction Manager-Electrical Engineer shall possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or construction management from an ABET accredited institution of higher learning or licensed to practice in the United States. The individual shall have a minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction.
Additional consideration will be given for the Construction Manager-Electrical Engineer who possesses a current professional engineering license registration and maintenance of same throughout tenure.
Salary: $110K-$125K per year commensurate with education, experience and licensure
