Function
This position is involved with the development, preparation, analysis, interpretation, and maintenance of all accounting records and financial reports. This includes responsibility for the timely and accurate preparation of the Credit Union and subsidiaries' financial statements and regulatory reports.
Responsibilities
Prepares consolidated financial statements including balance sheets, profit, loss, and subsidiary statements.
Lead the month-end close process.
Responsible for monthly variance analysis comparing actual results to prior periods and budgeted amounts; partners with other departments regarding GL accounts and process workflows
Partner with other departments to maintain clean GL reconciliations and efficient processes
Responsible for certain general ledger account reconciliations using Excel and Blackline
Coordinates the completion of the NCUA Quarterly 5300 report and ensures accuracy
Reviews and analyzes general ledger account balances; verifies accuracy and makes recommendations for corrections
Responsible for the accounting of Credit Union investments, derivatives, and all Treasury related functions
Evaluates and improves current processes
Provides training and guidance to other Accounting staff
Assists the Director of Accounting in the preparation of periodic miscellaneous reports.
Assists with the internal and external auditors/examiners
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
3-5 years Accounting experience. Knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques, and principles (GAAP)
Mindset of continuous improvement and a drive for accuracy and efficiency
BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Microsoft Office - intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Additional Skills/Notes
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Accounting, and Blackline automated reconciliation experience preferred
Must be comfortable with ambiguity and adapting to change
Banking/Credit Union/Financial Services industry experience preferred but not required
