Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer - Structural Analysis/Sr. Principal Engineer - Structural Analysis to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to the 4/10-1st Shift, (Mon-Thu) - 10 hours/day schedule.
This position may be filled by either a Principal Engineer - Structural Analysis level or a Sr. Principal Engineer - Structural Analysis level based on the qualifications listed.
This position will be required to analyze, research and develop structural engineering analysis packages involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include FEMAP, NX CAD, NGTools, and a variety of software applications.
Essential Functions:
Work with senior engineering team to develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives.
Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
Review of completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Engineer - Structural Analysis (T03):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 3 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM.
Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, and manipulation of large Finite Element Models
Experience working Material Review Board (MRB) statement of work
Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures
Experience as a team lead or section lead for stress analysis
Basic Qualifications:
Sr. Principal Engineer - Structural Analysis (T04):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 9 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 7 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 4 years of engineering experience.

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
