Responsible for assisting with the professional role development of members of the Nursing Department as well as the implementation of programs to improve the quality of care delivered.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Ensures all on-the-job training is consistent with guidelines established
2. Ensures that site trainers/preceptors have the knowledge, tools, and attitude to effectively train staff
3. Acts as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice and serving as a resource by assisting nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options
4. Works with the Operations team in identifying changes that should be made in the nursing practice and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaption to change. Strives for excellence in patient care by self-monitoring and, as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient. Identifies existing and potential problems and takes effective actions.
5. Develops and maintains an awareness of needed improvements in patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.
6. Other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
Required:
1. BSN Required
2. BLS Required; ACLS Preferred
3. Minimum of 3-5 years of Acute Care experience in a hospital setting as a Registered Nurse
4. Valid New Jersey Nursing License
Preferred:
1. Master's Degree Preferred or enrolled in program
2. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
3. Patient, compassionate nature
4. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses
5. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
