Description:
Mercy Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Atlanta, GA serving nearly 16,000 low-income and at-risk individuals annually. The agency started as a volunteer-driven effort in 1985 and is the only Healthcare for the Homeless (HCH) designated provider in Atlanta.
Mercy Care’s service area is primarily Fulton and DeKalb Counties, including the City of Atlanta, along with portion of Gwinnett and Cobb counties. Our programs include primary and preventive health care, dental and vision, culturally appropriate health education, chronic disease management and prevention, integrated HIV/AIDS-related services and integrated behavioral health and substance use care. Mercy Care serves metro Atlanta’s most vulnerable populations through eight fixed and mobile clinics and multiple street outreach teams.
Mercy Care participates in the National Health Services Corp (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program. Nurse Practitioners employed with Mercy Care are eligible to receive loan repayment assistance through the NHSC Loan Repayment Program.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Providing direct, pediatric patient care in an outpatient setting with opportunities to engage in population health management and quality/safety activities.
- Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention. Recommends appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs.
- Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Answering emergency telephone calls after hours and weekends on a rotating schedule.
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with a nurse protocol agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum two years of pediatric nurse practitioner experience.
- Pediatric clinical care experience preferred.
- Must have a current Georgia state registered nurse license.
- Must have current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescription authority.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Sit, stand, bend, reach, and walk for long periods of time in a clinical setting.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 100 lbs. as part of the role.
- Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
