Job Summary
The Benton County District Attorney's Office is currently seeking a Senior Deputy District Attorney.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Deputy District Attorney provides full scope of supervision to assigned Deputy District Attorneys. This position also represents the State of Oregon in the following cases and matters: criminal, civil commitments, juvenile delinquencies, civil forfeitures, death investigations, public records appeals, and providing legal assistance to law enforcement in criminal investigations.
While office business hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the demands of this position require considerable work outside of business hours to manage complex and increasing caseloads (e.g. the majority of trial preparation takes place outside of business hours).

Annual salary range of:
$128,305.42 - $179,628.18
This position is eligible for up to two salary raises within your first year. An Increase may be given at the end of the 6-month probationary period, depending on starting salary, and at the 1-year anniversary, as long as your performance is in good standing! Annual performance-based increases are given until the maximum of the salary range is reached.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Senior Deputy District Attorney (D64)
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law; AND
Active member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar; AND
A minimum of 10 years of experience in criminal prosecution with 3 years being in a supervisory role. This includes experience with complex trial litigation, including at least one complex homicide trial, or equivalent experience in relevant complex litigation.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Special Requirements

Must have or obtain a valid ODL within the first 30 days of hire (travel required). Must maintain a good driving record, and the use of a personal vehicle.
Requires successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
Requires ongoing compliance with all Federal, State and Local statutes.
Ideal Candidate
Possess established record of creating favorable legal precedent (e.g. appellate process).
Strong knowledge of criminal law and the practices and procedures of criminal prosecution, as well as knowledge of the Oregon Criminal Code, Oregon Sentencing Guidelines, courtroom, trial procedure, trial tactics, and Oregon and Federal civil procedure.
Demonstrated ability to manage major administrative responsibilities and public/media representation of the District Attorney's Office.
Demonstrated skill in interpersonal communication, building professional relationships, and promoting synergy through a healthy work dynamic.
Experience, competency and mastery using Outlook, Word, DA case management systems (e.g. PbK), e-Court, ODYSSEY, PowerPoint, and courtroom computer presentations (e.g. PowerPoint).
Demonstrated competency in all aspects of the duties and responsibilities assigned to a Deputy District Attorney 1-3.
Demonstrated ability to supervise law school interns.
Benton County residence is not required, however, due to the nature of the work, must live within a commute of no more than 60 minutes from the Benton County Courthouse (a reasonable transition period is permitted with the District Attorney's approval).
