Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Materials and Process Engineer/Sr. Principal Materials and ProcessEngineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA or Oklahoma City, OK.
This position may be filled by either a Principal Materials and Pro Mechanical Engineer level or a Sr. Principal Materials and Process Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.
Essential Functions:
The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Materials and Process Engineer (T03):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 3 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM.
Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) (Not needed to start)
Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Basic Qualifications:
Sr. Principal Materials and Process Engineer (T04):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 9 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 7 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related filed with 4 years of experience.
Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start (Not needed to start)
Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with working on military aircraft
Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science
Experience with material Obsolescence issues and qualifying materials
Experience with LO materials
Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
Salary Range 2: $120,900 - $181,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
