We are looking for an experienced litigation attorney to join our business and insurance coverage litigation department. Specifically, we are seeking an attorney with at least three years of civil litigation experience to join our firm. Most of our coverage cases involve underlying construction defect lawsuits, so knowledge of construction law is a plus, but not required. Notably, insurance coverage is substantially different than general insurance defense. Although this is a litigation position, it involves a fair amount of legal writing.
The attorney will be attending depositions and mediations weekly. A typical day for the attorney involves drafting detailed motions to the Court and opinions to the client. Most of our cases are resolved through the summary judgment process and not trial, therefore, the cases are usually resolved "on the papers" or with minimal hearings. With this, it means that we only go to court once or twice a month, but when we do we are extremely prepared. Also, it means that attention to detail in our legal briefs is of the utmost importance as this is sometimes the only interaction we have with the Court. Accordingly, the attorney will not be in court several times a week (which some attorneys may find preferable), but the candidate should also be ready and willing to go when necessary.
The working environment at Davis Law Firm is truly new-age, with several perks employees might only find at a large tech company. Our law firm recently purchased a historic building in downtown Jacksonville, Florida and completely renovated the interior. Each attorney is provided their own office with state-of-the-art equipment, including a flat-screen television. There are several spaces around the office to encourage collaboration with colleagues, including a coffee bar, gaming area featuring classic arcade games, a law library, and sports bar. In order to invite maximum comfort while at the office, our coffee bar, kitchen, and sports bar are stocked with food and drinks of our employee's choice.
