The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, overhauling and/or maintaining all types of diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, steering mechanisms, etc. that have been identified as requiring service. The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for moving equipment in and out the repair facility safely. Accurately complete work orders on any repair, maintenance and/or service performed on a particular piece of equipment including accurately tracking time spent on the repair as well as any parts or other materials removed from inventory to perform the job. The Diesel Mechanic must have their own tools to perform repair, maintenance and/or service tasks.
