Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Engineer - Weapons Integration to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA and is assigned to 1st shift 9/80 Schedule.
Functional design-integration requires in-depth technical knowledge of Stores Management System (SMS) / Suspension and Release Equipment (S&RE) - related hardware and software, as well as knowledge of governing standards such as MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, Universal Armament Interface (UAI), etc., for the ability to carry and employ weapons. It also requires broad knowledge of overall aircraft subsystems and how they are used by the pilots and maintainers.
Essential Duties:
Lead a team of engineers at multiple NGC and Customer locations in the planning and execution of F-35 weapons flight test activities
Provide technical management and oversight of team members performing Weapons Functional Integration, such as supporting development of software requirements, supporting test planning, execution, post-flight analysis and reporting of weapons flight test; ensure proper Stores Management System functionality
Perform a variety of duties in the weapons integration area, including, research, data gathering, and data analysis and troubleshooting.
Work from engineering specifications such as software requirements packages, Interface Control Documents, Performance Based Specifications, Architecture drawings, and other Engineering Instructions or technical data.
Participate in the development process of integrating new weapons capabilities; represent NGC at high-visibility Technical Interchange Meetings with the customer and other US and Foreign partners
Responsible to support RFP activities related to the Weapons Integration IPT including but not limited to: BOE Development, Fact Findings and negotiations with customer.
Communicate across the engineering disciplines and technology areas to integrate capabilities, and communicate technical capabilities and analyses with internal stakeholders and external customers (government customers and company leadership).
Travel to NGC and Customer Locations to support Weapons Integration SOW
Basic Qualifications for Staff Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of related experience OR a Master's Degree with 12 years of related experience OR a PhD with 9 years of related experience
Experience in the design of weapons integration for fighter aircraft
High level of proficiency using : Microsoft Excel VBA and IADS
Must have a current in-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Experience in Weapons Flight Test Control Room Environment
Preferred Qualifications for Staff Engineer:
Preferred degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
Experience working on military aircraft
Proven history of leading teams
Development/Integration experience and working knowledge of weapons and payload systems
Salary Range: $165,000 - $247,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
