Summary
The Merchandise Planner will be responsible for developing and executing merchandise strategies that align with our sales goals and inventory management practices. This role requires strong analytical skills, a keen eye for trends, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal product assortment and inventory levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Planning and Forecasting - Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and customer preferences to develop accurate sales forecasts and inventory plans.
· Inventory Management - Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing excess and markdowns.
· Product Assortment - Collaborate with the buying team to determine product assortment strategies that align with brand vision and customer demand.
· Sales Analysis - Evaluate sales performance and make recommendations for adjustments to merchandising strategies based on data-driven insights.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with marketing, e-commerce, and operations teams to ensure cohesive execution of merchandising plans and promotional strategies.
· Reporting - Prepare and present regular reports on merchandise performance, inventory levels, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
· Trend Analysis - Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Education and/or Experience
· BA or BS in Merchandising, Business or related field preferred
· Individual must be able to work well in a dynamic, fast paced environment
· Must have 2+ years of experience in retail merchandise planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, allocation, financial planning, or a similar role
· Ability to work with multiple product categories at one time
· Strong interest in fashion and retail industry
· Demonstrated proficiency Retail Math and analysis using planning systems and excel preferred
· Ability to take data and provide actionable insights
· Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures
· Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
