Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater is seeking a LPN to join our team in Chesapeake, VA to help drive patient success in our community.
We are searching for a passionate LPN to work Full Time in our Endo Suite, Monday through Friday from 7am to 4:30pm. This position provides a great work - life balance as you will not have to work any nights or weekends!
What you will do:
- Gather focused assessment data (i.e. vital signs, LOC)
- Administer topical, oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and sublingual medications as prescribed. The LPN will NOT administer any IV medications.
- Perform IV insertion as applicable.
- Perform safety checks of emergency equipment and supplies.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
- Assure the integrity of the controlled substance system.
- Maintain competence in point of care testing – Blood Glucose Checks, Pregnancy Tests, CLO Tests. Calibrate blood glucose device.
- Demonstrate competence in the operation of patient monitoring and testing equipment. BP machines, EKG, IV Infusion systems.
- Accurately document all vital signs observations.
- Demonstrate skill of equipment use, specimen collection, and reading the vital sign monitor.
- Identify and properly report abnormal findings to the supervisor and physician.
- Practice infection control and standard precautions as trained or instructed.
- Assure and adhere to the overall safety of the patient, visitor, and employees.
- Maintain par levels of supplies in work area. Check for expiration dates monthly.
What you bring:
- Graduation from an approved LPN program. Must have active licensure and maintain licensure required.
- Membership in the state and/or national SGNA recommended.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Completed IV infusion therapy program required.
- Priority setting, application of judgment, communication skill and tact, ability to complete necessary tasks in reasonable time frames. Organizational skills. Must possess physical strength required to move carts, able to assist post sedation patient with ambulation. Demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in making decisions.
