Marketing, Public Engagement and Outreach Specialist
This position is responsible for developing communication plans and strategies to raise brand awareness and public interest, creating communication materials such as press releases and newsletters, and building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external parties, including the media.
The individual selected for this position will also be required to manage staff, set goals and guidelines, monitor operations, and resolve issues or concerns should any arise.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
Communications and Marketing: As lead for all company and client communications candidate will be expected to:
- Create marketing collateral for company and clients
- Apply creative and analytical thinking while problem-solving
- Exhibit strong communications and writing skills when interacting with customers, vendors, and stakeholders
- Conduct thorough research and gather data to create content such as client success stories, reports, presentations, press releases, newsletters, in addition to marketing materials and media notifications
- Develop content for distribution over a variety of communications channels, including website, social media, electronic and print newsletters
- Develop marketing strategies for the company as well as, strategies curated for specific business clients
- Create and execute project plans, timelines, and meeting plans
Public Engagement: Serve as lead on projects spanning multiple industry sectors, including transportation, transit, aviation, municipal and other private or non-profit agencies.
- Develop and implement effective public outreach strategies and plans
- Oversee, coordinate and manage all outreach and engagement activities in cooperation with client and the technical team,
- Facilitate and organize virtual and in-person open houses, workshops, public hearings, neighborhood meetings, ground breakings, etc.
- Design, setup and actively monitor event registration
- Represent the company at trade shows and public appearances, as needed
- Manage onsite events and registration
- Support business development with copywriting and proposal development
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public affairs or a related field
- At least 5 (five) years of experience in a communications, marketing, and/or public engagement role
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Strong marketing communications skills with certification a plus.
