Summary of the Position:
The Director of Pricing Strategy & Bids leads pricing strategy, analysis, and recommendations that maximize revenue growth for JBSS. The position also plays a key role in retailer bid development.
Job Functions:
Pricing Strategy & Development
- Analyze market trends, competitive pricing, commodity pricing, pricing elasticity and consumer behavior to develop pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive.
- Lead core pricing analytics for key owned brand accounts, the commercial ingredient business, and branded business across channels.
- Build & update price pack architecture (PPA strategy) and guidelines in collaboration with marketing and sales.
Retailer Bids
- Works closely with sales, marketing and finance to develop pricing frameworks and guidelines for owned brand bids.
Revenue Management
- Identifies opportunities to enhance gross margins and profitability through pricing optimization and cost management
Pricing Leadership Across Organization
- Leads and develops Pricing Analytics Manager. Supports development, competencies and capabilities of Pricing Analytics Manager
- Champions the pricing function at JBSS. Drives change management and builds the centralized pricing function at JBSS. Drives delivery and ensures execution of identified opportunities.
- Develops strategic pricing best practices, optimizes process, and upskills organizations pricing expertise
Competitive Pricing
- Monitors and provides view of competitive pricing actions as a key input for JBSS pricing actions
Education, Experience and Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree required, business, finance, economics, mathematics or related field. Master’s degree a plus.
- 7-10 years of experience of working in a CPG company, 5+ in Pricing, Strategic Revenue Management, or Cost Accounting.
- Experience in a commodity-driven or private label business a plus.
- Track record of thriving in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity
- Must possess demonstrated leadership and initiative in prior job
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques. Experience in translating analysis into insight and action
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence within all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to partner with cross-functions and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders
- Must be able to drive effective change management from both a process and cultural mindset perspective
- Must possess broad cross-functional knowledge to include a solid understanding of the selling process, the P&L, category management and consumer insights.
- Must have high level of business and financial acumen.
