Job Description Summary The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for leading a team through all parts of the systems engineering lifecycle throughout the development of Flight Data Recorders.
The Senior Systems Engineer must have broad and deep level of expertise that relates to Flight Data Recorders. In this position you will develop system architectures, requirements, interfaces, integration , and testing of complex hardware/software for aviation-based systems while mentoring others.
This opportunity is located in Grand Rapids, MI is preferred. This is an onsite opportunity that includes flexibility to work Hybrid/Remote 1-2 days a week when possible.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead Systems Engineering domain expertise throughout the entire systems development lifecycle, particularly in embedded software and hardware development.
Develop systems architecture, requirements, systems design, verification, and validation, ensuring compliance with FAA regulatory requirements such as DO-178C (level D).
Provide technical guidance to team members and lead Systems Engineering scope for development projects.
Maintain expert-level product knowledge and articulate architectural technology and product positioning to stakeholders.
Collaborate with development teams to establish solution architectures and respond to RFIs/RFPs.
Support sales activities with technical presentations, requirements definition, and architecture for proposals.
Listen to, understand, and convey customer requirements and ensure developed solutions satisfy them.
Aid in the development of strategic roadmaps and engage with support groups for review concurrence and compliance.
Travel to project sites for start-up, integration, and training services.
Document project details and maintain communication with support groups, management, and executives.
Resolve customer issues in line with company mission, values, and financial objectives.
Maintain professional relationships within internal support organizations and target accounts.
Provide status updates on ongoing and future projects and identify sales opportunities for future growth.
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing system architectures for aviation systems, including military applications; OR Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
US Person: This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3 due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Ability to read architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
Experience with RTCA/DO standards and military interface/environmental standards.
Desired Characteristics:
Proven track record in project management and product development.
Familiarity with additional military interface and environmental standards.
Ability to perform system design trade studies effectively.
