Job Description: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
Location: Federal Prison Camp Bryan, 1100 Ursuline Ave, Bryan, Texas
Position Overview: The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan is an essential member of the healthcare team responsible for providing compassionate and competent nursing care to inmates within the correctional facility's healthcare unit. The CNA plays a vital role in promoting the physical and mental well-being of incarcerated individuals while adhering to all relevant regulations and security protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Assist registered nurses and medical staff in delivering direct patient care to inmates within the facility
- Provide basic hygiene and grooming assistance, including bathing, dressing, and toileting, while maintaining respect for the individual's dignity and privacy
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, as directed by the medical team
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure that prescribed treatment plans and medications are administered accurately and timely
- Maintain a safe and clean environment within the healthcare unit, including infection control measures
- Assist in the transfer and transport of patients as needed, adhering to security guidelines
- Observe and report any changes in inmates' physical or mental health status to the appropriate medical personnel
Qualifications:
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification from an accredited program
- Valid state licensure as a CNA
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in correctional or similar environments
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve standing, bending, and lifting
- Compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and protocols
