When you join PPGNY as an Advanced Practice Clinician under medical supervision, you will provide medical and pelvic examinations for the purpose of assessing general health and eligibility for contraception; to ascertain pregnancy; and to ascertain the need for and provide therapeutic assistance for a determined range of infections and disorders. Provides educational and training services to staff and clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administrative (10%)
- Participates in department and interdisciplinary committees which affect policies related to the role of the Advance Practice Clinician and delivery of health care to the customer.
- Participates in agency quality risk management program. Under the direction of the regional VP and the physician leadership, implements overall quality assurance activities at the health centers.
- Responds with other staff to community needs by participating in educational efforts.
- As required by law, participates in Collaborative Agreement with Medical Director or another designated Physician.
- Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in health care center efforts to comply with all organizational and quality guidelines and all pertinent government regulations.
- Understands and commits to customer satisfaction approach to health care delivery.
- Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in overall health care center efforts to achieve all goals set to improve customer relations, increase customer satisfaction and promote repeat customer visits.
- Complete all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of ADA and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA.
- Works effectively with volunteers, trainees and temp agency personnel.
- Performs other educational and experience related duties as required.
- Adhere to affiliate goals, policies and standards of conduct in terms of professionalism. Assist center staff in achieving time efficient family planning visits as well as answering phones professionally.
- Familiar with health center emergency procedures and responds appropriately.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with OSHA, CLIA and State procedures, policies and regulations.
- Prepares medical incident / occurrence reports as needed.
- Travel: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may have to travel toother work locations at various times. Own transportation is required, with a valid driver’s license, inspection, registration and adequate insurance.
- Direct Clinical Care: (80%)
- Responsible for assessing, planning and administering health care which is individualized to the patient and consistent with the policies and protocols of PPFA and PPGNY.
- Secures a complete health history and performs physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive health care, and other types of more specialized reproductive care including abortion care, and transgender hormone therapy.
- Provides medications and contraceptive devices as needed.
- Monitors medical aspects of all medical services offered at the health center, acting as a resource to center staff and patients regarding medical concerns.
- Performs, orders and interprets appropriate laboratory tests.
- Provides education and appropriate management for women and men in need of reproductive related services, including fertility control, infertility, and sexually transmitted infections.
- Assesses and manages gynecological conditions and provides treatment consistent with PPGNY protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures appropriate medical follow-up on all patient testing and/or treatment, including direct patient contacts and laboratory test review.
- Create & maintain medical documentation in an EHR system in compliance with EHR policies and procedures.
- Provides postpartum care in selected settings within an interdisciplinary teamframework with appropriate pre-service and in-service education.
- Seeks consultations as necessary from Medical Director or designee.
- Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team and makes referrals to medical and community resources as indicated.
- Training: (10%)
- At the discretion and direction of the Clinical Director, AVP of clinical implementation and or Medical Director, assists in training and orientation for newly hired APC’s and new skill development.
- At the discretion and direction of the health center management, assists in training and orientation for newly hired clinical support staff.
- Attends agency sponsored staff meetings, medical in-services and trainings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum education
- Graduation from a formal and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program such as Ob/Gyn Women’s Health Care or Family Planning Nurse Practitioner Program plus New York State Licensure.
- Graduation from a formal and accredited Physician Assistant program plus New York State Licensure.
- Graduation from a formal and accredited Nurse Midwifery program plus New York State Licensure.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree

- State license as a Physician Assistant, Midwife or Nurse Practitioner and be certified by a national credentialing body.

- Master’s degree in nursing or related health field preferred

$62.35 - $62.35 an hour
