Position Summary
The Family Law Program (FLP) Managing Attorney will lead and manage the Family Law Program which currently includes one staff attorney, one paralegal, and one legal assistant. The program directly assists survivors of intimate partner abuse by providing full representation, limited scope assistance, and legal advice with civil cases. In addition, the FLP partners with the community legal advocate to host legal clinics, educational programs, and to train volunteers.
Education and Experience
Must be a member of the Georgia Bar in good standing with no disciplinary history, with at least five (5) years of direct experience representing survivors of intimate partner abuse with civil legal cases. Courtroom experience is mandatory. Must have or be willing to obtain notary certification.

- Experience working with and advocating for survivors of intimate partner abuse (Required)
- Litigation experience (Required)
- Experience managing other staff and/or attorneys
- Experience working with clients of diverse racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people to understand, convey, and support the clients' needs.
- Must be respectful and responsive to cultural beliefs and practices within a client's community
- Strong collaborative skills
- Ability to derive creative solutions
- Attention to detail and a commitment to executing with excellence
- Organized and able to prioritize clients' needs effectively
- Demonstrated excellence in legal research and writing
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Experience using Salesforce is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees and manages the FLP staff attorney, paralegal, and legal assistant. The Managing Attorney will provide feedback and coaching to ensure the highest quality services are always provided and that the program is meeting the needs of survivors while keeping exceptional service and respect for survivors at the forefront of their work
- Provides advice & counsel, limited scope representation, and direct representation to survivors of intimate partner abuse in their family law cases.
- Conducts legal research, drafts pleadings and memos, and other legal documents necessary to provide high quality representation.
- Appears in court to represent survivors at their hearings, status conferences, and trials.
- Consults with clients and assess which cases are appropriate for acceptance into the program and/or placement with volunteer attorneys. Provides support and supervision to volunteer attorneys when necessary and appropriate.
- Supervises, trains, mentors, and supports Safe & Stable Families (SSF) interns
- Works closely with SSF's community legal advocate to host Know Your Rights clinics, table events, and other community outreach events aimed to inform survivors of intimate partner abuse of their civil legal remedies
- Hosts/Presents Intimate Partner Abuse trainings, Guardian ad Litem trainings, and other trainings as needed
- Participates in court and county task forces, committees, and bar activities, as workable, to maintain relationships with other service providers and expand reach of the SSF
- Attends bar events, trainings, and speaking engagements
