The Systems Effectors: Processing, Guidance & Control Center is responsible for algorithm development including Guidance, Navigation, and Control; radio frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO-IR) Signal Processing (SP); and missile-and-sensor-level Modeling and Simulation for Raytheon's broad portfolio of projects, programs, and products. In the SP department, we design, integrate, and optimize sensor control, detection processing, tracking, and classification algorithms to meet mission objectives. We support new business initiatives and help develop & execute technology roadmaps.
The PG&C Center is currently hiring for an Algorithm Performance Lead position in Tucson, AZ in support of a major advanced technology missile program as part of the Software, Simulation, and Performance Integrated Product Team. The role reports to the Integrated Product Team Lead and requires leading a team of 5-7 multi-disciplined engineers responsible for executing performance tasks to ensure system performance evaluation and efficient communication of results to the IPT, Program Chief Engineer Office and customer.
The candidate will support regular customer engagements and internal reviews to communicate technical results and develop performance related strategy to balance demanding system performance needs with schedule, technical roadmap, and available resources.
This position is an onsite role.
What You Will Do
- You will help lead a multi-discipline team of 5-7 engineers executing all performance tasks to ensure evaluation of missile design.
- You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the performance evaluation plan including design and analysis of simulation experiments, analysis tools and metrics and delivery of results within a challenging schedule.
- You will provide technical leadership in shaping the tools and methods by which performance is evaluated.
- You will be responsible for root cause analysis to highlight sub-system behavior as it relates to performance.
- The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain special access program clearance.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years prior GNC, Signal Processing or Modeling/Simulation experience.
- Experience including at least two of the following: digital and/or modern control systems, dynamics, Kalman filter design, Monte Carlo, development and/or simulation of physical systems, or signal processing.
- Experience with Matlab, Python, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design.
- Experience with GNC and/or Signal Processing algorithms within a simulation environment.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in an Agile environment.
- Experience managing or leading others in a technical and/or functional capacity within an engineering environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and customers regarding matters of significant importance.
- Subject Matter Expert in at least one of the following areas: RF algorithm design, GNC algorithm design, autopilot algorithm design or Software in Simulation.
- Experience with and demonstrable achievement in systems engineering principals with regards to product development.
- Experience supporting software and performance activities leading to flight test such as software Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) or Computer-in-the Loop (CIL) performance analysis, ensuring compliance to performance metrics prior to software release.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
