The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for performing various physical therapeutic treatments for patients with injuries or disabilities that have been evaluated and have had a plan of care developed by a Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation; including, but not limited to:
- Interacts with patient and/or family by teaching use of equipment, home exercises and other techniques that will be important in-patient care after discharge from physical therapy service
- Interacts with patient, family, and others interested in establishing follow-up care that reflects the goals of care plan established by the Physical Therapist
- Administers treatment programs to assigned patients including modality treatments, therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, gait training, wound dressing, etc., in accordance with the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist
- Records patient’s reaction to treatment and progress in the patient care plan on the patient’s medical record; daily notes and/or weekly notes must be completed and filed in the patient’s medical record in the manner as outline in the policy and procedure manual
- Instructs and provides technical direction to Physical Therapy Assistant students, technicians and attendants in performing patient care activities
- Counsels and teaches patient and/or family in the use of assistive devices and exercise techniques to be performed at home in accordance with the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist
Required Work Experience:
- Two (2) Years of experience working as a PTA is preferred
Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements:
- Associates Degree from a Physical Therapy Assistant program is required
- Currently licensed in the state of employment as a Physical Therapy Assistant
- Current CPR Certification
- Current State of Tennessee Driver’s license
- Current Auto liability Insurance according to Company Policy
Other Requirements:
- Position may require unscheduled overtime, week-end work
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours
- Travel required
- Must have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements:
- Job will require frequent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds
