Position Title: Construction Project Accountant II
Position Reports to: Assistant Controller
Location: Colorado Springs, CO not a remote opening
Career Level: Professional (exempt)
Salary: $70K - $85K (DOE)
Work Hours: M-TH 8-5, F 8-12noon
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting or related field
Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting
Proficient in Excel
Preferred:
Experience working in the home building industry preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with Construction Accounting and/or commercial multi-family projects

Primary Operational Objectives: The Construction Project Accountant performs professional level accounting work in the maintenance and review of project records. The Project Accountant's primary responsibility is to support the operations team regarding budget review, contract changes, job costing, preparation of monthly and quarterly reports and any other duties related to construction projects. Additional responsibilities include performing monthly closings, maintenance of accounting files, and preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports, and financial analyses, etc. This individual may be asked to assist with ad-hoc projects and general office support tasks when necessary.
Accountabilities: This position will support the accounting team with the day-to-day transactions, operations, compliance, reporting and risk management of the department.
Maintain budgets for approximately 10 active projects and 10 pre-development projects, which include, but is not limited to: change orders, contract upload, purchase order creation and monthly review of our costs to complete.
Responsible for the monthly preparation, submission, and communication of project bank draws.
Possess an ownership mindset surrounding process improvement by actively determining and implementing new ways to streamline efficiencies for the company.
Provide consistent and timely management reports to the leadership team surrounding each active project.
Assist in accounts payable -process invoices / pay apps and ensure vendors are paid timely.
Assist in accounts receivables - ensure Goodwin Knight is receiving payment timely.
Assist in insurance requirements - obtain proper coverage for GK projects and obtain and document the necessary insurance from our trade partners.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization as well as with trade partners and building departments
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Self-motived and self-directed
Must be a team player
Must be highly detail-oriented and organized
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to problem solve and a self-starter
Ability to work closely with senior management team
Ability to gather information and generate documents with accuracy
