DESCRIPTION:
Sand Law, PLLC has an immediate opening for a Criminal Defense Attorney in our Minot, North Dakota office. Sand Law is a multi-state practicing firm in North Dakota and Minnesota providing representation to Criminal Defense and Personal Injury clients. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for assisting senior attorneys to manage a large list of clients in our criminal defense practice.
DUTIES:
Advocate zealously for our clients.
Conduct legal research and analyze cases to determine the best path and devise an effective strategy to defend our client/s in court.
Draft motions, reports, legal memoranda.
Interpret laws and advise clients about their legal rights and options.
Aim to resolve cases as favorably as possible.
Represent clients in a variety of court settings.
Present evidence to a judge and/or jury should the case go to trial.
Negotiate settlements.
Manage the preparation of court documents (i.e. legal briefs and appeals).
Attend and lead meetings, hearings, conference calls, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Juris doctor law degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
Passed North Dakota state bar exam.
Comply with local, state, and federal laws.
Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
Minimum of one year experience as an attorney in the practice of criminal defense.
An enthusiasm for developing creative solutions to problems.
Experience with high volume of phone calls and emails.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
Depends on experience (Salary plus bonus).
