Job Description
This position is in support of the County of Sarasota Florida to provide care for those with special needs who are displaced in the event of a largescale disaster. This position requires the individual to be able to respond to a disaster with in 24 hours of notification to establish care with in 72 hours of notification. This is a post disaster mission and will require the individual to be onsite until conclusion of the operation.Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurse provide basic patient care and work under the supervision of doctors or registered nurses. The LPN/LVN will administer medication, preform patient assessments, administer vaccinations, and provide emergency care as needed. Their responsibilities can include.
Qualifications
- Degree issuing institution and or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program for Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory accredited by The Accreditation Commission For Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Minimum one year of professional experience as a licensed LVN/LPN in a hospital, medical office or residential setting.
- Current, full and unrestricted licensed as Registered Nurse in the state in which the duty station is located. Any changes to license must be reported to employer immediately.
- Basic Life Support, ACLS (Preferred), PALS (Preferred)
- Current and valid drivers license
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Experience with special needs populations (preferred, not required).
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the performance of MAs/CNAs in their duties
- Administering patient medications and recording into administration record.
- Monitoring vital signs, administering medication, and changing wound dressings
- Preforming medical assessments of patients
- Maintaining accurate patient records and updating them confidentially
- Communicating with patients and their families, as well as other healthcare personnel
- Explaining treatments and procedures to patients and families
- Administering vaccinations and entering into multiple systems of records
- Managing medical emergencies .
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Understanding of Nursing operations and care in an austere environment.
- Understanding of “Special Needs” populations (Preferred)
- Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-based training and communications.
- Knowledge of, and moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
- Cultural competency and interpersonal skills.
Duty Hours / ON-Call Requirements
- This an upon notification position
- Shifts will be 12 hours a day until complete
Physical Demands
- Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as listed above.
- Ability to work in an austere environment exposure to heat and weather
- Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer, telephone etc.
- Ability to lift, carry and move up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to drive a vehicle on behalf of the company

- Travel to Sarasota upon notification

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
