Job Summary The Unit Supervisor is accountable for direct patient care and of supervising the care provided by other professional and ancillary personnel. Focuses on the work of the department, quality monitoring, teaching and serving as an ongoing resource. The Unit Supervisor will also assist the Nurse Manager in the overall management of the unit.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience - Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- At least three years of general nursing experience required with some of that experience being in Behavioral Health required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration - Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of Multi-state licensure required.
- Professional certification preferred.
- Membership in a professional organization preferred.
- Certified in specialty area of nursing practice required within 12 months of hire.
Work Schedule - Varied Shifts; 48 hours every 2 weeks
