Hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
Role
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, ensuring complete, accurate, and timely completion of financial and accounting records for the Credit Union. Perform a wide variety of advanced accounting work with minimal supervision. Support all accounting positions by having a working knowledge of all major functions.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Prepare financial, statistical, and accounting records for the Credit Union
Perform duties including: Posting of journal entries, assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports, and reconciling general ledger accounts
Work independently and assist other accounting staff with their daily work
Assist with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits
Ensure the department meets all deadlines with respect to settlement activities, with minimal errors, and no errors that result in a loss to the Credit Union
Keep upper-level accounting staff informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department
Maintain fixed asset modules and assist Accounting Clerks/AP with expense classifications
Develop and maintain knowledge of current (and future) software applications within the accounting department
Participate in semi-annual Service Center audits offsite
Post Freddie Mac default reporting according to Freddie Mac deadlines, remit Freddie Mac Funds within established deadlines, and balance/ reconcile all Freddie Mac custodial accounts within established guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned

Experience
0-2 years of similar or related experience
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required OR
A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions may be substituted.
Other Skills
Analyze and identify key information from changing processes and applications
Attend conferences and workshops to develop knowledge and refresh skills pertinent to the job
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy
Knowledge of Monarch a plus
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and financial systems, with an ability to learn additional systems quickly
