Cardiac and Vascular Centers of Northern Michigan is excited to add an RN to its team.
This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday / dayshift hours.
Position Summary:
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the state in which the office is located. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process; including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Serves as the patients advocate by safeguarding his/her human dignity and rights. Coordinates patient care by advocating and navigating in a multidisciplinary function with a patients network of providers to ensure holistic, well rounded patient care. May assist in periprocedural assessment to post-anesthesia care and follow-up.

Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the office is located; Required
- Highest Level of Education Required: Associates Degree
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing: Preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR): Required (within 90 days of hire)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Required (within 180 days of hire), if indicated
- Complete online moderate sedation training, and obtain certificate: Required (within 90 days of hire)-if indicated
- Minimum one-year experience as a Registered Nurse: Required
- Cardiovascular and/or peripheral vascular disease experience: Preferred
- Critical Care and/or Cardiac catheterization lab experience: Preferred
- Prior experience in the Operating Room: Preferred
- Persistent to detail, thorough and exact
Specific Duties May Include:
Shared:
- Maintain orderly, efficient, and timely flow of patients
- Provide instruction to patients and family regarding medications and treatment
- Assess patient/family level of understanding to enhance effective communication and education
- Provide specialized nursing care to endovascular patients as necessary for in-office treatment
- Screen patients for appropriate clinical information, accurately document vitals, condition, medications, and other relevant medical information using EMR system
- Assist healthcare providers with various medical procedures
- Provide compassionate, professional patient care and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
- Provide continuity of care while communicating with all team members
- Provide support to research trial assessment and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by leadership and supervisory staff
Nurse Navigator (Office Based):
- Instruct patients in collection of samples and inform them of diagnostic tests/procedures
- Arrange for patient testing and hospital admissions
- Respond to incoming telephone calls from patients, families, referring offices, hospitals, etc.
- Schedule outpatient procedures while ensuring pre-procedure labs and follow-up is complete
- Schedule hospital procedures while coordinating with hospital scheduling ensuring pre-procedure labs and follow-up are obtained
- Provide patient education about treatment plan, procedures, and expectations
- Provide hospital follow-up to ensure successful transition of care
- Triage patient phone calls, concerns, and questions while communicating to providers when necessary. Ensuring patient and family level of understanding is met to enhance effective communication and education.
- Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary approach by communicating with outside office and providers to ensure holistic treatment plan
- Medication management including warfarin, digoxin, amiodarone
- Assist with stress testing and venous procedures
Procedural Nurse:
- Prepare patients for and recover patients following outpatient endovascular interventions
- Circulate during outpatient endovascular interventions
- Provide conscious sedation during endovascular interventions under direction of physician
- Assess patients for potential complications during peri-procedure and post-procedure times
- Administer and chart critical care medications
- Provide report to prep and recovery RN
- Provide post-procedure instructions to patient, family, and/or caregiver prior to discharge
- Collaborates with Nurse Navigator for scheduling/follow-up care for patients
- Assist with stocking supplies/inventory
- Sheath pulls, as directed
