Location: Channel Islands Aviation (FBO) at Camarillo Airport

Overview:
The Aviation Mechanic Shop Manager at an FBO is responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair activities for small general aviation aircraft. This role ensures that all work is performed in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards, while managing a team of skilled mechanics.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the maintenance shop.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of aviation mechanics and technicians.
- Schedule and assign work to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and safety briefings.
Maintenance & Repair:
- Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are performed in compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and inspection programs.
- Diagnose mechanical and avionics issues and provide technical guidance to mechanics.
- Perform quality checks on completed work to ensure safety and airworthiness.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
- Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and parts to ensure availability for scheduled maintenance.
- Order and procure parts and supplies as needed.
- Maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure proper documentation is completed for all work performed, including logbooks and maintenance records.
- Prepare reports on maintenance activities, shop performance, and compliance with regulations.
Customer Service:
- Communicate with aircraft owners and operators regarding maintenance needs and status updates.
- Provide cost estimates for repairs and maintenance services.
- Address customer concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the shop.
- Implement and enforce safety programs and procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in maintenance processes and procedures.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance shop efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes.
Certifications:
-A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license required.
- IA (Inspection Authorization) is a plus but not a requirement
Qualifications :
- Education:High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an aviation mechanic, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills:
-Strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of FAA regulations and general aviation maintenance practices.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with possible overtime and weekend work.
- Work is primarily performed in a hangar environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require dexterity and precision.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
