Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Electronics Engineer - Sensors Responsible Engineer (SIGINT) OR Senior Principal Electronics Engineer - Sensors Responsible Engineer (SIGINT) to join our team in Rancho Bernando, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
This candidate will be responsible for supporting the entire program lifecycle to include development, production and sustainment of Triton EO/IR, RADAR and SIGINT systems as a member of the Mission Systems IPT Sensors Team.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform EO/IR, RADAR and SIGINT subsystem analysis, documentation of system requirements and interfaces with traceability to platform requirements.
- Perform/support review and analysis of supplier design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration.
- Perform/support design reviews, or reviews of design related documentation (ICDs, system and subsystem design documents, etc.).
- Perform/support integration of new subsystems and capabilities.
- Perform lab and flight test planning and execution.
- Evaluate flight test performance and prepare test reports.
- Perform change management and engineering change proposal (ECP) duties, including preparation, analysis, planning and execution.
- Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines.
- Coordinate identification, tracking, and resolution of risks, issues, and opportunities, including root cause/corrective action of technical issues.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing the selected candidate to telework at least one day a week and requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
This position can be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer level or the Senior Principal Electronics Engineer level, depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications - Principal Electronics Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with aerospace development, production, or operations.
- Experience with data analysis tools and scripting languages.
- Active, in-Scope DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.
Basic Qualifications - Senior Principal Electronics Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with aerospace development, production, or operations.
- Experience with data analysis tools and scripting languages.
- Active, in-Scope DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance
- Understanding of EO/IR, RADAR, SIGINT, and/or AIS sensor operation and data products to include image analysis
- Experience with Air-to-Ground SIGINT systems
- Experience leading a team of engineers
- Operational experience
- Ability to communicate complex issues effectively to crowds with diverse perspectives
- Ability to prioritize disparate tasks
Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
