My client is looking for a Controller to play a crucial role in overseeing their financial operations of the business, with key responsibilities in financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, and profit and loss statement management. This person will ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) along with being hands-on, blending individual contributor tasks with leadership and management duties.
Skills & Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and a proven track record of enhancing internal controls.

- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and variance analysis.

- Excellent organizational and planning capabilities.
- Proficient in Excel; advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience with Paylocity is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead and develop the Accounting and Finance team through coaching, clear communication, delegation, and accountability. Foster a team-oriented environment that motivates and engages employees.
- Daily Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day functions of the Accounting and Finance departments, including the control and monitoring of company assets such as inventory and fixed assets through cycle counting and audit methodologies.
- Month-End Close: Ensure timely completion of monthly closing activities and meet internal and corporate deadlines.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and comprehensive financial reports, including analysis of data related to sales, earnings, profits, working capital, cash balances, and other key financial metrics based on historical, current, and forecasted operations.
- Budget Monitoring: Track approved budgets on a monthly basis, providing guidance and support to management as needed.
- Audit Management: Lead financial audits with internal and external auditors, including 401k audits, and recommend procedural improvements.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance; Controller experience is strongly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Extensive background in product cost accounting (standard cost systems) and plant accounting/finance systems, with a strong understanding of ERP systems and their relationship to the P&L.
Travel: Minimal travel required (up to 10%)
