Position Summary:
As a Manufacturing/Project Engineer, you will oversee complex projects from start to finish, aligning with the company’s strategic goals. You’ll be part of an engineering team enhancing value streams, collaborating with Operations and technical experts to tackle challenging internal projects. This role offers the freedom to innovate and develop unique solutions that enhance processes and capabilities across the company.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Ensure adherence to all corporate and plant safety policies and procedures.
- Manage compliance with quality control and assurance standards and specifications.
- Identify and develop capital projects to improve efficiency and address plant capacity needs.
- Oversee the execution of capital projects, including scope development, machinery specifications, coordination of external resources, scheduling to minimize operational disruptions, and ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Apply process control methodologies to resolve issues and enhance process control and capability.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans in coordination with site personnel.
- Stay informed about industry trends to improve product quality, consistency, efficiency, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with all plant locations to define process specifications, including machinery setups, operating conditions, set points, tolerances, processing procedures, and packaging specifications, based on customer requirements.
- Work closely with the Continuous Improvement team on cost reduction, scrap reduction, and capacity improvement initiatives.
- Assist in preparing major capital expenditure requests to enhance existing operations, increase efficiencies, improve product quality, or commercialize new technologies. Act as a resource on plant technologies, control systems, and raw materials.
- Support the implementation of approved investment projects for capacity or facility expansion and upgrades.
- Ensure plans are in place to meet all performance indicator targets/goals.
- Collaborate with departments such as sales/marketing, engineering, and customers to understand and meet their needs. Conduct regular meetings to ensure clarity and timely fulfillment of specific requirements.
Education/Special Skills/Experience/Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience with similar processes.
- 5-7 years of experience in Process, Maintenance, or Operations roles in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Program/Project management experience preferred
- Experience with controls (PLC) programming is a strong plus.
- Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
- Knowledge of automated packaging equipment, Lean, and Preventative Maintenance systems preferred.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and team mentoring/building.
- Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to travel as required, estimated at 50% of the time.
