Position Description
The Electrical Field Engineer contributes to the overall success of CR Meyer and its heavy industrial customers through effectively supporting electrical construction and/or installation projects. Works with the electrical field crews, Project Manager and other personnel to ensure CR Meyer projects are properly completed in a timely manner.
Actively engages with the electrical crew, Project Management and other personnel to provide the project with information to allow crews to work as efficiently as possible.
Stays up-to-date on construction specifications and assures compliance and quality.
Creates packages of information and/or sketches for specific crew tasks.
Previews drawings ahead of construction for consistency and completeness of information.
Creates raceway design drawings to use for installation.
Maintains knowledge of the content and location of all engineering and vendor drawings.
Performs various drawing takeoffs for material ordering and other daily needs.
Resolves discrepancies between the termination drawings and the actual equipment, using vendor
drawings if necessary.
Mark up and maintain the master as-built drawing sets.
Reviews all new engineering releases and maintains drawing revision control throughout the project.
Proactively resolves potential concerns and, if necessary, writes RFI's before construction needs them.
Quickly resolves daily unforeseen construction concerns that the crews come across.
Creates custom one-off benchmark reports for specific crews for specific tasks.
Makes changes to benchmark to reflect RFI answers and resolved concerns.
Assists crews in determining what is in scope and what is change order work.
Breaks down complex vendor equipment installations and guides crews in assembly/installation.
Maintains awareness of milestone and system turnover dates and makes sure crews have the information needed to meet them.
Pre-packages blocks of cable pulls for highest efficiency of the crews.
Helps crews find the locations of obscure devices and equipment.
Helps find warehoused equipment and devices for installation.
Wears all assigned PPE and observes CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times.
Due to project deadlines and demands, regular and reliable attendance is required.
Completes all related paperwork in a timely manner.
Represents the CR Meyer brand in a positive, professional manner at all times.
Position Requirements
Previous experience in an electrical construction, installation and/or engineering role, preferably with an emphasis in heavy industrial construction projects.
Must possess basic computer skills, be able to operate 3D model software and Microsoft Office Suite, and/or the ability to learn CR Meyer software and systems.
Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines including, but not limited to, First/Aid-CPR Certification, OSHA 30 and SafeStart and other job/trade-specific requirements.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer's Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.
Employees who operate a company vehicle must have a valid driver's license, insurable driving history and ability to operate a motor vehicle following all traffic laws and safe, courteous driving habits.
Primary work hours are weekdays, however, overtime, weekend and on-call/emergency work will be required in relation to project completion deadlines.
Ability to travel to various project sites within the United States required.
