The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of benefit plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life & disability, and retirement plans and must have strong knowledge of federal & state regulations for all programs. This position will provide excellent customer service to all levels of employees and partner closely with the Human Resources team.
Responsibilities:
- Partners with senior management, external vendors, and employees to design and implement benefits plans that align with the organization's goals, budget, and culture.
- Researches and evaluates various options for health insurance, retirement savings, wellness programs, disability coverage, and other benefits that can attract and retain talent.
- Communicates the benefits policies and procedures to employees, answers their questions, and enroll them in the plans.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the benefits programs; process enrollments, changes, terminations, and claims, and ensure that the benefits data is accurate and secure.
- Monitors the performance and satisfaction of the benefits vendors, negotiates contracts and rates with them.
- Ensures benefit programs comply with the relevant laws and regulations, such as the Affordable Care Act, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
- Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness and impact of benefits programs, through the use of data and metrics, such as enrollment rates, utilization rates, costs, satisfaction scores, and retention rates, to measure the return on investment and the alignment with the organization's objectives.
- Assist in administering leave processes for employees and maintaining leave policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support special projects to address continuously evolving business needs, including vendor implementations, strategic initiatives, and process improvement.
Qualifications
- Must have a combination of technical, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Have a solid knowledge of benefits administration, compliance, and systems, as well as HR policies and practices.
- Must have demonstrable experience with Excel and Office 365
- Strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills, to interact with various stakeholders and explain complex benefits information.
- Proven capabilities as a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, with an ability to independently prioritize workload.
- Good problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills, to handle multiple tasks and challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and 5+ years of experience in benefits administration or coordination.
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or the Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) is preferred.
