DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES:
Essential Functions:
People:
- Build and promote a work environment and culture aligned with Heirloom’s mission and values.
- Communicate policy information, updates, initiatives and HR related timelines with the entire organization through written and verbal communication.
- Oversee the companywide recruitment strategy to attract and hire talent across the organization.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to identify and drive companywide people strategies related to DEI, Talent and Corporate Social Responsibility.
- Lead constructive feedback cycles: 360 feedback for individual coaching, annual culture surveys, etc.
- Serve as a resource for all department managers to provide guidance and strategy relating to employee development, engagement, performance feedback and retention.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of employee engagement events and special programming including but not limited to; holiday parties, senior leadership retreats, company merchandise and the internship program.
- Design and implement a companywide onboarding program to ensure that employees are set up for success.
- Administer the performance review process to ensure fairness, consistency, and timeliness.
Process:
- Maintain, evaluate, and implement technology utilized by the Human Resources department including the HRIS, ATS, Google Admin account and other 3rd party resources.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of employee benefit programs including but not limited to major medical and 401(k)
- Review, evaluate and design organizational policies that are legally compliant while maximizing employee engagement and business outcomes.
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations impacting human resources functions and ensure that policies and procedures are compliant.
- Oversee the distribution and maintenance of company owned technology and platforms including physical assets and software subscriptions.
- Lead the annual filing of form 5500, any applicable year end reporting including, but not limited to 401(k) census filing, year end reporting, ACA, and workers comp.
Payroll & Benefits Administration: The Director of Human Resources oversees all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments to all employees and contractors. The payroll aspect of this role works collaboratively with various departments to gather and validate payroll information, resolve payroll discrepancies and provide exceptional service to our employees.
- Primary point of contact and internal technical expert for the payroll platform/HRIS.
- Responsible for the setup of payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and implementing system upgrades and enhancements.
- Work collaboratively with the finance department to administer payroll and benefits deductions, where applicable
- Work collaboratively with the remote payroll administrator to:
- Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
- Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers
- Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Generate payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits deductions and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requisites
- 5+ years of Human Resources/People Operations generalist experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree. Focus in human resources, labor relations, organizational development, business or related field of study is a plus.
- Professional certification in Human Resources (SHRM-CP, SCP or PHR) a plus.
- Expertise in benefits selection and administration: 401k, medical, dental, etc.
- Experience recruiting, training, and managing remote and international support staff
- High degree of tech literacy: comfortable using cloud based systems to manage daily workflows, digital filing, and communication.
- Experience using cloud based payroll systems such as Paylocity, ADP, Paycore, etc. Experience in Paylocity specifically is a big plus.
- Highly proficient in MS Office and G Suite.
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, understands report creation and basic data analysis
- Exemplary planning, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
- High degree of professionalism and judgment with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Polished communicator, exceptional written communication: memo writing, policy drafting
Schedule & Compensation
The Director of HR is a full-time position based in New Orleans, LA. Compensation for this position is salaried and commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office/2 days remote each week) after an initial 90 day onboarding and training period. Benefits included as part of compensation package (health, dental, vision, 401K, paid sick and vacation leave, preferential employee stays at Heirloom properties, paid parental leave).
