The role of a National Channel Development Manager involves establishing and maintaining strong relationships with dealers, expanding the dealer network, and ensuring the network's growth aligns with the company's sales and distribution objectives. Some of the key responsibilities associated with this role include:
- Developing a comprehensive dealer network strategy that aligns with the overall business goals and objectives, including the identification of target markets, evaluation of market potential and the determination of the ideal number and location of dealers to achieve maximum market coverage
- Identifying potential dealers and evaluating their suitability to represent the company's products and services. This would include conducting market research, competitor analysis, and due diligence. Development of recruitment plans and processes to attract and select qualified candidates
- Developing onboard programs to ensure new dealers have a thorough understanding of the company's products, services, policies, and procedures.
- Implement performance measurement systems and monitoring dealer performance to evaluate effectiveness
- From first day forward, build and maintain strong relationships with dealers through regular communication, training, and dealer meetings.
- Conduct Market analysis and identify opportunities to expand the dealer network in new geographic areas of market segments. Assess market demand, competitor presence and profitability potential to determine viability of network expansion.
- Develop business cases and present to the organization's leadership
- Negotiate dealer agreements, contracts and terms of engagement while ensuring that contracts are aligned with company policies, legal requirements and business objectives
