JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the General Manager, the Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth in the fastener, metal forming/stamping (engineering) and vertical markets such as industrial, aerospace, automotive, etc. This role requires a sales professional adept at driving new applications of engineered products and competing in established market applications. The ideal candidate must understand various market products suitable for a range of uses within the target market.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Utilize strategic sales processes to drive growth, customer retention, market penetration, and profitability.
- Organize and manage proposal preparation, pricing establishment, and quotation activities.
- Manage sales pipeline to drive incremental new business volume and profitability.
- Manage established accounts, providing service and contractual support.
- Develop and grow commercial relationships to identify and qualify new business opportunities.
- Assist with advertising and sales promotion programs and participate in trade shows and industry activities.
- Produce effective verbal and written communication for activities and sales reports, customer correspondence, etc.
- Collaborate with other Inside and Outside Sales Representatives to manage and grow the customer base.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, nurture, sell, and close new sales opportunities in technical markets.
- Sufficient technical/engineering knowledge to understand and address the complex needs of customers in the metal components industry.
- Experience working effectively within an established Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool is preferred.
- Ability to manage the quoting process to meet customer requirements.
- Strategic alliances with key contacts in the metal components industry.
- Proven ability to identify and fill a sales funnel with new sales opportunities, including cold calling, prospecting at trade shows, and following up on marketing leads.
- Strong organizational and self-management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to create and deliver effective presentations to customers.
- Serve as the communications liaison between customers and manufacturing locations.
- Ability to travel up to 50% is required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BA) preferred.
- 5+ years of technical selling experience in manufacturing; engineered metal components preferred.
- Experience utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools is preferred.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
- Proven track record of delivering sales results.
- Manufacturing/Precision Machining industry experience preferred.
- Strong personal leadership and experience working in a manufacturing environment.
