Position Summary
The Electrical Controls Engineer travels to various local and international sites to perform the pre-commissioning or the commissioning of the compressor systems; troubleshoots the control system for our compressors by configuring various types of instruments and various types of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) as well as Vibration Monitoring Systems. This position has substantial discretion, autonomy and independence in the execution of his/her duties, decisions and/or responsibilities.
Essential Position Functions and Duties
Responsible for programming and configuration of PLCs, HMls and Vibration monitoring systems along with the set up and configuration of various types of transmitters to work with the PLC or the control system. Support Electrical Engineers by providing positive feedback for the improvement of Kobelco's standard documents such as the sequence of controls, wiring diagrams, Factory Acceptance Tests (F.A.T) documents, etc
Ability to work independently in various locations domestic and international for long periods of time while acting as a Kobelco Ambassador ensuring that the company is represented well by displaying the highest professionalism possible in order to keep the customers satisfied.
Responsible for successfully conducting internal and witnessed F.A.Ts, S.A.Ts and providing positive feedback to the current documents being used in Electrical Engineering.
Conduct pre commissioning/ commissioning and troubleshoot the systems in the field. Create and submit daily service reports, customer timesheet, invoicing for billing, travel itineraries, PLC trending, updated PLC and HMI programs and adheres to the company rules and policies.
Develop and follow troubleshooting skills to resolve problems and improve the operation of the compressor system. Perform wiring and PLC/HMI program modification to ensure the proper operation of the compressor system.
Develop Standards, Procedures, and Forms as needed by Kobelco to improve its processes and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or the manager as needed.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
1. B.S. Electrical Engineering
2. Must have proven experience in PLC, HMI logic and programming within different software packages (Rockwell, Siemens, GE ,Omron)
3. Some experience in computer-assisted engineering, design and office software (i.e. AutoCAD, EPlan, Excel, etc.).
4. Moderate to Expert level experience in programming, testing and simulating control systems (i.e. transmitters, control valves, PLC's, and control panels).
S. Valid Driver's License issue by the state of residence and good standing.
