The Regional Manager, Technical Services is a key leadership role providing a strategic direction with organizational standards to ensure the right priorities are focused in the right way to significantly improve operations reliability. This position will manage the business through strong leadership and partnerships with plant leadership teams and engineering.
The Regional Manager, Technical Services will be responsible for driving transformation of the Plant Network including but not limited to Safety, technical competence, financial efficiency and culture. As well, this role will drive the Process Reliability improvement throughout the CHEP NA Plant network.
The Regional Manager, Technical Services will be responsible for the technical leadership in a region, acting as the liaison between VP Operations and Reliability Engineering in either North or South Region. They will lead a team comprising of Technical Systems Managers, Performance Improvement Manager and Vision System Engineers.
Scope of Countries: United States
Location: Field Based, North Region USA - 50%+ travel, must be located near a major US airport

Major/Key Accountabilities
- Develop specific procedures and methodologies governing loss elimination, risk management, and life cycle asset management
- Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with Commissioning plans
- Technical Leadership for NA Northern Territory Locations
- Participates in the final check-out of new installations, including factory and site acceptance testing to assure adherence to functional specifications
- Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems
- Technical Lead for a region
- Develops Engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that affect plant operations
- Plays a key role in developing policies and practices for maintenance across the company and managing asset reliability.
- Develops training for others regarding preventative and predictive maintenance tools and techniques.
- Leads the implementation of actions and techniques in the day-to-day operations to reduce downtime, improve uptime, minimize frequent stops and improve equipment availability and utilization.
- Provides planning and supervisory assistance for the transition of new projects and/or the demobilization of existing projects.
- Establish KPI system to monitor and identify improvement opportunities in facility reliability and asset utilization.
- Optimize use of the CMMS for maintenance and material management.
- Incorporates safety, quality, and cost reductions into overall maintenance programs.
- Reviews and makes recommendations for maintenance control and reporting systems.
- Author’s technical reports interpreting plant performance and identifying trends and/or other opportunities for maintenance and asset management optimization.
- Reviews and provides input regarding capital projects.
- Collaborate with the Regional Supply Chain and finance leadership to identify and drive operating cost reductions through productivity projects. Share direct accountability for Initiatives and total cost out with the other Supply Chain leaders.
- Collaborate with regional quality and Health & Safety leadership to identify and drive projects that improve product quality and or worker safety.
- Liaison for Vice President of Operations North region for Technical leadership.
- Support and advocate global standardization efforts through close collaboration with other CHEP Process Engineering leaders around the world.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other relevant engineering diploma
- MBA or equivalent on the job experience preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or significant related experience
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years engineering and/or related project management experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working as an engineer or Supply Chain leader in a production / operations environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills at all levels in the organization
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to act tactically while planning strategically
- Highly skilled in capital project justification methods (ROI, IRR, NPV)
- Skilled in financial management with heavy focus on capital expenditure
- Project management and engineering tools such as MS Project and AutoCAD,
- Experience in DFSS, DOE and QOS a plus
Base pay range is $131,000-197,000 annually
Salary ranges provided take into account a wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications, geographic differentials and other business and organizational needs. Therefore, actual amounts offered may be higher or lower than the range provided.
