Classification: Full-time FTE (1.0), Regular, Exempt
Designation: Remote working in the Eastern Time Zone. Position involves work-related travel in the United States about 2-3 times per year.
Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000

The Marketing Manager, Engagement and Retention supports the mission of AMS by planning and executing targeted marketing communications to optimize the individual, school, and affiliate member experience, maximize events and professional development revenue, boost engagement, and achieve membership renewal goals.
The Marketing Manager utilizes all strategically relevant channels: web, email, social media, direct mail, and others. The role reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and works closely with the Growth Marketing Manager to create a seamless member experience that begins with demand generation and continues through conversion and membership acquisition, and on through onboarding, engagement, retention, and advocacy.
The role collaborates with all AMS teams, including colleagues in Marketing, Membership, and Professional Development. The Marketing Manager, Engagement and Retention is a key member of the team responsible for increasing and communicating member value (individuals, schools, adult learner members, and teacher education program directors), driving online and in-person event registrations, launching and promoting courses, webinars, and certificate programs, and providing marketing support to member schools and Montessori teacher education programs. The Marketing Manager will collaborate with other AMS teams to create new marketing and sales opportunities offering value to members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize member engagement and retention, and drive revenue growth.
- Plan and execute cross-channel marketing campaigns, including email, social media, web, digital advertising, and direct mail.
- Manage the organization’s social media strategy and execution, growing AMS's presence and engaging with the audience to enhance member satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Membership and other stakeholders to develop and execute a member experience strategy that drives engagement and retention.
- Write and edit high-quality copy, manage creative development, and supervise freelance designers.
Other Responsibilities:
- Membership Engagement and Retention
- Create and maintain processes for listening to and responding to members and subscribers across channels, working closely with membership.
- Develop and execute automated lead nurturing and engagement campaigns
- Achieve revenue and registration goals for AMS’s annual conference, in-person events, online events, and live and asynchronous online classes
- Work with Growth Marketing Manager to develop high-performing membership onboarding processes, which provide all member types with the support and resources they need to get the most out of their membership.
- Social media
- Supervise and collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to develop and implement a system for effectively responding to and engaging with our online audience.
- Audience Management
- Manage audiences and segmentation in HubSpot, creating personalized and targeted messaging, and utilize dynamic content and automation where applicable.
- Lead Generation
- Work closely with the Growth Marketing Manager to gain and convert new membership, event, and professional development leads.
- Collaborate with Growth Marketing Manager to engage, and convert as applicable, parent subscribers and followers through existing and new blog content, website resources, and more.
- Performance Optimization and Analytics
- Improve marketing effectiveness and conversion rates through continuous testing, tracking, and optimization across channels, including email, web traffic and conversions, social media, etc.
- Utilize analytics and feedback to track, test, and improve retention, engagement, and revenue.
- Collect and utilize analytics and customer feedback via surveys, web and email analytics, and other data sources to track, test, and improve retention, engagement, and revenue.
- 4+ years experience in marketing, with a focus on member or customer engagement and retention.
- Active HubSpot certification with 2+ years hands-on experience.
- Must have strategic, creative and data-driven mindset.
- Strong working knowledge of common digital marketing tactics, tools, and systems, Google Analytics, social media, and CMS/blogging platforms (ideally WordPress).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Strong creative and exemplary writing skills.
- Top-notch attention to detail (the buck stops with you), and editing/proofreading skills.
- Experienced as both marketer and consumer on all major social media platforms.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong personal communication skills necessary for thriving in a remote environment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
